James E. Christie

James Christie is a security professional with over 28 years of law enforcement and security experience and extensive knowledge with the collection and management of threat intelligence. Additionally, James possesses a wide range of experience with threat assessment and mitigation strategies. Currently, James serves as the Director of Team Security for the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League. Prior to being employed with the Flyers, James served as the Cyber Incident Response Coordinator with KeyBank. In 2022, James retired as an Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Philadelphia Division after twenty-three years of service. As the ASAC, James oversaw 14 FBI led task forces consisting of over 300 Agents and Task Force Officers and was responsible for FBI Philadelphia’s efforts to combat violent gangs and organized crime groups, crimes against children, and the trafficking of firearms, drugs, and humans. Before being promoted to ASAC, James served as a Supervisory Senior Resident Agent and Supervisory Special Agent within FBI Philadelphia, overseeing the personnel conducting a wide range of criminal and national security investigations. Prior to arriving to FBI Philadelphia in 2016, James served as a Supervisory Special Agent in the Violent Crime Unit at FBI Headquarters as a program manager over violent crime investigations and as the national bank robbery coordinator. Prior to 2015, James served as a Special Agent in the Dallas and Washington Field Offices. As an investigator, James conducted a wide range of complex criminal investigations leading to numerous honors and successful federal prosecutions of white collar and violent criminals and the dismantlement of multiple criminal organizations.
Prior to joining the FBI, James began his law enforcement career as a Police Officer with the Philadelphia Police Department in 1996. He later became a State Trooper with the Pennsylvania State Police and was selected to the position of Criminal Investigator. James obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Administration of Justice from Pennsylvania State University in 1994 and a Masters degree in Cybersecurity from La Salle University in 2019. James currently serves on the Boards of the FBI’s National Academy Associates Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter and the Mid-Atlantic Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar (MALEEDS). James is also a Certified Fraud Examiner and a member of the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association, and the Police Chiefs Associations of Montgomery and Bucks Counties.
